Drew Hoffmann seeks investment opportunities in the life sciences sector with a particular focus on medical devices. He also currently holds an operating position as CEO of InterWest portfolio company Synvascular.

With over twenty-five years of experience in the life sciences industry, Hoffmann has led numerous early stage companies in their efforts to transform research into marketable products. Prior to joining InterWest, Hoffmann was CEO of Inspiration Medical Inc., where he directed the company in establishing novel sleep apnea therapies. He also held executive positions at Epicor and Ventritex and co-founded Sysflow Medical Inc. to assess the feasibility of an improved hemodialysis blood pump. Hoffmann built his expertise in medical devices by developing and bringing to market intravenous pumps, implantable pacemakers and defibrillators, and cardiac ablation devices.

Hoffmann graduated from Stanford with a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering. He holds 12 patents and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles about medical devices, materials, and polymer science.
