Follica fights baldness with new $11 million round

Follica Inc., a startup developing treatments for hair loss in men and women, has nailed down $11 million in a second round of venture financing.
Polaris Venture Partners led the Series B round. Existing investors InterWest Partners and PureTech Ventures also participated.
Follica raised $5.1 million in a first round of venture financing in January 2008.
Follica, which is based in Boston, believes its technology can treat androgenetic alopecia, a form of male and female pattern baldness.
The company was co-founded by PureTech and a group of academic dermatologists from Harvard University; University of California, San Francisco and the University of Pennsylvania.
Follica's technology is licensed from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
