NetIQ Founders Launch Symphoniq Corporation
New company's systems management software lets IT operations improve the real user experience by finding and solving the hidden problems that affect Web application performance
Palto Alto, CA - October 13, 2004 Symphoniq Corporation, led by NetIQ® (NASDAQ: NTIQ) founders Hon Wong, Ching-Fa Hwang, and Her-daw Che, today announced the launch of a new company to implement their vision for managing "The Real User Experience" of both customer-facing and enterprise Web applications.
Symphoniqtheir new ventureoffers software to help IT operations find, diagnose, and resolve the hidden problems that other Web application performance management tools miss. Symphoniq's patent-pending technology monitors how the real end-to-end user experience is affected by Web application infrastructure performance. This business-oriented view aligns IT with the business processes it supports.
"Business and IT have become inseparable. IT has to be able to monitor the impact Web application performance has on mission-critical business processes," said Gartner analyst Milind Govekar. "Therefore, IT needs tools that can measure the real end-user experience to identify problems and get business processes back up and running more quickly."
Symphoniq's TRUE (The Real User Experience) approach provides a complete end-to-end solution for managing both customer-facing and enterprise Web applications. TRUE monitors the real user experienceas measured at the actual user"s Web browserand relates performance problems back to specific tiers, servers, and machines within an organization"s Web infrastructure.
Unlike approaches which limit IT to monitoring a pre-defined set of transactions, this real user approach eliminates guesswork by efficiently monitoring all user interactions and pinpointing the specific Web pages and objects that are causing problems.
"The performance of Web applications has direct bottom-line impact. Web users do not bother to report problems, they just go elsewhere," said Prof. Kirthi Kalyanam of Santa Clara University and Director of E-Business Initiatives for the Retail Management Institute. "IT operations cannot manage the end-user experience until they have tools that can monitor, from a business perspective, real customers performing real transactions in real-time."
Instead of limiting IT operations to the traditional machine-oriented view, Symphoniq lets IT manage Web application infrastructure by transaction, user, or business function.
"IT organizations and businesses in general need tools that can provide actual end-user activity and response time within the context of business processes," said Al Liebl, Senior Program Director with META Group.
Symphoniq's TRUE product suite is architected from the ground up for scalability, efficiency, and ease-of-use.
"We understand that IT is constantly fighting fires and faces increasing workloads on limited budgets," said Hon Wong, CEO of Symphoniq. "They need solutions that are easy to deploy, easy to use, and deliver immediate results without impacting existing IT processes."
Symphoniq's first product, TRUE View, is now shipping, and can be downloaded from the Symphoniq Web site. Licenses start at less than $10,000 (see accompanying release).
